Mission
Social Actions connects people with actionable opportunities. By encouraging individuals to take action, our work is increasing the scope and impact of the citizen sector.
Toward this end, Social Actions:
- Provides a search interface of actionable opportunities;
- Aggregates actions from 20 social action platforms;
- Publishes materials for individuals on planning and implementing social actions;
- Distributes materials for nonprofits on engaging constituents;
- Consults with foundations and companies on how to embrace micro-philanthropy;
- Encourages collaboration among social action platforms.
These activities support the mission by helping individuals to:
- Find and participate in actionable opportunities;
- Become effective wired changemakers independent of their age, location, wealth, or social media knowledge-base.
Nonprofits, foundations and companies:
- Learn how to leverage the resources and passions of real people;
- Find professionals who can assist with creating and implementing a social media strategy.
Social Actions encourages collaboration among social action platforms in an effort to ensure that the technology underlying online social activism integrates well and reflects the full potential of social media.
More details on our structure and guiding principles can be found in our organizational plan. Please note that this document is updated from time to time by Social Actions community members.
