Thank you so much for visiting my fundraising page! ARFhouse Chicago is holding its 2nd Annual Ride for Rescues Fundraiser on July 20th, 2008. This is our largest fundraiser of the year and we would like it to be a huge success! I'm signing up as a Virtual Rider because I will be helping the day of the event. If you are interested in being a rider for the event, please contact me for more information! We would love to have you join us. You will receive a limited addition Ride for Rescues t-shirt and an ARF bag. There will be food and beverages, dog training demonstrations, bike station and more!
As many of you know, I have been involved with ARFhouse Chicago since its inception and was one of the founding members. In a year and a half, we have found forever homes for over 200 animals. When we started this shelter, we took in eight dogs from another shelter that was closing. Their fate at the time was unknown and would have likely been euthanized. All of these dogs had a variety of issues that made them extremely difficult to adopt. Many had to go to single animal homes and a couple had to go to very experienced handlers. It took us a while to find homes for each of these unique dogs, but as of the beginning of this year, all of those dogs are now living in a home. This was a huge success for ARFhouse and it is so wonderful that all of these dogs who waited so long are finally in a loving home. With the money that we raise from this event, we will be able to help even more animals!
One of the reasons this organization is very dear to my heart is the number of animals we take that other shelters would either not accept or would euthanize. We have taken in animals that have certain medical conditions, older, blind, deaf and breeds that are harder to place. If you look at our website of adoptable animals, as well as those who have been adopted, you will see a large variety. Since we are an all volunteer shelter and work solely on donations, any help is so greatly appreciated. Every penny that is donated goes straight towards helping the animals such as boarding costs, food, and medical care.
