Endorse Our Mission and Terms of Collaboration
Endorsement from platforms is not a prerequisite for participating in the Social Actions search interface and open API, or required for having a profile on Social Actions. We are committed to aggregating as wide a spectrum of actionable opportunities as possible and publishing as much public knowledge as we have about social action platforms.
The endorsement of the Social Actions' mission and terms of collaboration provides an indication to us and the public that your platform is aware of Social Actions and is committed to providing the best possible experience for individuals. We plan on asking platforms to renew their endorsement annually (or as this document changes). A list of organizations that have endorsed this statement is provided below
Endorsement of Social Actions
We endorse the following principles:
- That individuals and groups have the capacity and knowledge to take action on issues that are important to them.
- That individuals and informal groups can and should serve as full partners in philanthropy and the work of nonprofits.
- That distributed and peer-to-peer opportunities to take action should be especially encouraged because they provide a level of feedback, learning, and propagation that cannot be achieved through more centralized approaches to social change.
We endorse the mission of Social Actions:
- To increase the scope and impact of the citizen sector by connecting people with opportunities to take action.
- To help individuals become effective wired change-makers independent of their age, location, wealth, or social media knowledge-base.
- To support and serve social action platforms that facilitate a range of actionable opportunities, including fundraisers, petitions, and offline meet-ups.
- To encourage collaboration among social action platforms so that the technology underlying online social activism reflects the full potential of social media.
We endorse the following terms of collaboration:
- Our platform adheres to the ePhilanthropy’s Code of Ethics, and to abstaining from fraudulent activity of any kind.
- Our platform publishes its own privacy policy and respects the terms of Social Actions’s privacy policy.
- Our platform is committed to data portability, openness, and collaboration.
- Our platform is committed to expanding the amount and types of data we publish about our operation and the actionable opportunities we promote.
We understand that Social Actions may refuse or suspend an endorsement if the preceding statements have been seriously compromised by the platform.
