According to a Roman poet by the name of Virgil, “The greatest wealth is health”. We constantly are inundated with advice on how to remain healthy and honestly, the advice can get a bit confusing due to it contradicting itself so much of the time. However, there are a few bits of advice that do remain constant. Here is a look at some of the things that you can do to get and stay healthy in both mind and body.

Therapy
Mental health issues can include a wide variety of disorders and illnesses. Some of the ones that are seen the most often include things like depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, anxiety disorders, PTSD, psychotic disorders, and eating disorders. You can get help for these either at your local mental health facility or even at places like HARP rehab in Palm Beach, Florida. It doesn’t matter where you get help, the important thing is that you get the help you need.
Get More Sleep
It doesn’t matter if you prefer more traditional medical practices and health care or if you are more into alternative health care methods, one thing that they all agree on is that we need to get more sleep if we want to be healthy. Sleep is something that is both underrated and overlooked in terms of our health. Our bodies need rest just like they need water and food. If you currently have a lifestyle that precludes you from getting the sleep that you need, you need to seriously consider making some dramatic changes. Life isn’t about work or money, it also isn’t about heading to our graves before we should due to stress. Get some sleep… whether in the form of taking a nap or going to bed earlier and getting up later. Get sleep into your schedule.
Things You can do at Work
We tend to spend a lot of time at our jobs. We can do more to ensure that we are in an environment that is healthy for us, even when we are at our places of employment. Some of these things include spending a bit of time outside on our breaks to get that fresh air and Vitamin D that comes from the sun. We can also eat healthier by packing our own lunches as opposed to eating the more unhealthy options from fast food restaurants and street vendors. Another good idea is to cut down on the amount of coffee we imbibe. If you have a snack during the day, make sure it is one that is healthy and nutritious and not just full of sugar and empty calories, which lead to afternoon fatigue.
Make Friends
Did you know that having family and friends around can help to improve both your physical and mental health? According to the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services, people who have strong family and social ties tend to have longer lives, as well as immune systems that are stronger, and they even have less decline of their mental faculties as they get older.
Brush Your Teeth
Making sure that you brush your teeth after you eat and that you floss on a daily basis are very easy ways to keep both your teeth and your body in a healthy state. Only 17 years ago, the US Surgeon General gave out a report that linked poor oral health to heart disease, premature births, stroke, and diabetes.
Hydrate
Yes, you have heard this a million times before, but there is a good reason for it. Drinking plenty of water does so much for your body. It can give you that extra energy you need while also aiding in the process of digestion. It also helps to keep your skin looking fresh and healthy. We need a minimum of 5 glasses of water on a daily basis, so put that Coke down and get a bottle of water instead.
Move
Find some sort of activity that involves you moving your body and do it… on a regular basis. It doesn’t have to be anything strenuous. Even something as easy as walking can lead you to getting and staying healthy if you do it every day.
